Industry - Insurance
Location - UK
The client- NFU Mutual is the UK's leading rural insurance. It underwrites more than £1.5 billion in annual premiums in life and general insurance lines for rural communities within the UK.
The product- Captivate Reality partnered up with NFU Mutual to design and develop a 360-video interactive treasure hunt game for an end-of-year online corporate event.
The challenge- NFU usually for their employees hold an in-person end-of-year event. The pandemic meant that this type of event would have to be put on hold, and so a remote experience was requested. We were advised that user needed to be given an option on how to experience the game based on personal user comfort levels. The client also wanted a no-download experience that offered prompt user access as it would be incorporated into their end-of-year evening.
The experience- An online event was organised by the client, Captivate Reality identified that a web-based game would be a good addition & solution to keep the evening festivities going. We developed an interactive 360° video designed as a treasure hunt game. This was hosted online and made accessible via web browser. Google Cardboard VR headsets were designed and manufactured for the client and were shipped out to 100 employees. Users could opt to use the game via VR mode using their shipped VR headset or view as a panorama game on their mobile devices.
Scope of work- The app was built in a 3-week timeframe consisting of 1 week of creative & strategy, 1 weeks of app development and 1 week for testing, amending and app deployment.
We gathered all the information about the end-of-year staff event held by NFU Mutual and what type of games they wanted incorporate into it. We set out a timeline and confirmed all the goals for the project.
Presenting our creative solutions to the client included rendered visuals, video demos and 360 video prototyping.
Design and development lasted for 3 weeks with continuous integration and testing with the client. Headset production took 2 weeks from sign-off of approved artwork.
The 360 video game was deployed as an online VR experience viewable via Google Cardboard. A 3D panorama option was also created both viewable via web browser.
The 360-video experience showcased a living room space that held a treasure hunt theme. The game allows users to look around to find hidden items, when found users were teleported to another part of the scene to find more. When all treasures were found a personal video message was played from English actor, comedian, & screenwriter Jon Cleese congratulating all employees within the department on a job well done in the past year.
The 360-video game was incorporated into NFU's annual cooperate evening as a reward to keep employee sprits high during the pandemic.
