Learning & promotional web-based AR shows clinical trial results for an online corporate event.
Industry - Biotechnology
Location - USA
The customer- a US-based biotech company, had created a ground-breaking drug that slowed down cancer progression in patients that gave significantly more time without tumours growing or spreading.
Captivate Reality partnered up with an events & experience agency to design and develop a new learning & promotional web-based AR (WebAR) app for an online corporate event they were hosting for their biotech client, the app would showcase clinical trial results for the new drug.
We were advised that the delegates attending the event would have little experience of AR and as a requirement requested a no-download experience offering prompt user access.
A tight project deadline also meant a quick turnaround was required for the online live event.
Accessible by scanning a QR code on a camera via a mobile device, users were taken to an internet browser where they could explore an interactive AR experience. This showcased an animated human body along with clinical trial data which revealed the client's drug slowing down cancer progression in patients.
We were able to scale up quickly and established a dedicated team to meet the client's requirements & deadline. This allowed us to build a web-based, easy-to-use solution for inexperienced users.
We started the process with preliminary meetings to define the client's needs and objectives.
In the next step, we defined user stories which helped our development teams start the design and development sprints.
The design and development process was divided into weekly sprints with continuous integration and testing with the client.
After the release, we continuously developed, improved and tested the app, based on client feedback.
The WebAR experience enabled users to scan their own environment for floor detection. After scanning, a virtual human body appeared, the user could then go onto discovering clinical trial data throughout the body via diagrams, animations and labels. Users could position the body anywhere and also view graphical data about the trial.
The experience was available to view throughout the duration of the event and was hosted online for 3 months where over 500 delegates accessed it at their own leisure.
Through our development and quality assurance we continuously developed our client's WebAR and helped them be a leader in innovative learning processes.
