Web-based AR- clinical trial in biopharmacy.

AR app accessible via web browser, demonstrating clinical trial data for a new drug.

Industry - Biotechnology

Location - USA

Overview

The client- a US-based biotech company, created a ground-breaking drug that slowed down cancer progression. The drug gave significantly more time to patients without tumours growing or spreading.

The product- Captivate Reality worked with this client to develop an AR app that was accessible via web browser. The app showcased clinical trial data for their new drug.

The challenge- We were advised that the delegates invited to use the app would have little experience of Augmented Reality. A no-download experience offering prompt user access was needed.

What we did

The experience- A 3D animated human body revealing clinical trial data. The app showcased the drug slowing down cancer progression in a human body. Users scanned a QR code on their mobile device which took them to an internet browser, they could explore the interactive AR experience there.

Scope of work- The app was built in a 4-week timeframe consisting of 1 week of creative & strategy, 2 weeks of app development and 1 week for testing, amending and app deployment.

We started the process with preliminary meetings to define the client's needs and objectives.

In the next step, we defined user stories which helped our development teams start the design and development sprints.

The design and development process was divided into 4 weekly sprints with continuous integration and testing with the client.

After the release, we continuously developed, improved and tested the app, based on client feedback.

Conclusion

The AR app, which was accessible via web browser on a smart phone, enabled users to scan their own environment for floor detection. After scanning, a virtual human body appeared. Users could then go onto discovering clinical trial data throughout the body via diagrams, animations, and labels. Users could position the body anywhere and view graphical data about the trial.

The experience was hosted online for 3 months where over 500 delegates accessed it at their own leisure.

The client was able to communicate their clinical trial data to this large group of delegates within an intimate setting.

Through our development and quality assurance we continuously developed our client's AR experience and helped them be a leader in innovative learning processes.
